Management Team

Nancie Elshafei – CEO and Owner

Alan ElShafei is the Chairman and Founder of Navitas Systems. Prior to Navitas, Mr. ElShafei was the founder and CEO of MicroSun Technologies, IESS and Electronics. He brings more than 25 years of experience and leadership in the battery and portable power source industry.  Applying his technical and business experience, he founded MicroSun Technologies in 2003.  His breadth of experience encompasses design, direct sales, and operational experience. Mr. ElShafei was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, and is a member of the board of directors of All Cell Technologies LLC, IIT Energy Department, Vistage Group, President’s Forum, and Association for Corporate Growth.  Mr. ElShafei is well-known thought leader in the alternative energy industry, with successful track record in growing companies profitably by focusing on innovations, delighting customers and associates.

Prior to MicroSun, Mr. ElShafei held the following positions: VP – Business Development and Engineering with Lexstar Technologies, Inc. (2000-2003); VP – Engineering and Technical Sales with TDI Batteries, a division of Tyco Electronics (1984-2000).  During his tenure with TDI Batteries, Mr. ElShafei has led and completed the start-up of HET, Inc. to develop and manufacture Lithium polymer batteries.  As an executive officer he was instrumental in growing the company from $5M to $175M in annual sales. Mr. Elshafei holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago and an MBA from Benedictine University.

Nancie ElShafei is the CEO and Owner of Navitas Systems. 
Ms. ElShafei has over 20 years’ experience in running Operations, accounting and IT Application Development.  She oversees all Accounting, Finance, Human Resource, and the Information Technology departments of Navitas.

Prior to Navitas, Ms. ElShafei owned and operated MicroSun Technologies as the Chief Finance Officer.  Prior to MicroSun Technologies she worked with Bank of America – Leasing Division, formally known as Fleet Boston Financial (1985-2004).  She has a BS in Accounting from Ferris State University.  She is married to Alan Elshafei for over 28 years and they have three children. Ms. ElShafei received CFO of the year award in 2012 from Daily Herald.

Thomas Golab is the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Navitas Systems.  Mr. Golab is responsible for new business ventures, legal review and a resource for financial overview.

Prior to Navitas, Mr. Golab was the Vice President of Business Development for MicroSun Technologies.  He has also held the following positions:  CFO of U-Store-It Group LLC (2003-2005); CFO of Lexstar Technologies Inc. (1992-2003); Corporate Controller of RTO Inc. (1989-1991); and Audit Manager of KPMG Peat Marwick (1984-1989).  Mr. Golab holds a CPA and has a BS in Accounting from Purdue University. 


Samer Elshafei is the Business Development Manager and Co-Founder of Navitas Systems. Samer Elshafei is responsible for business development, program management, product development, internal sales support and strategic sourcing.

Prior to Navitas, Samer Elshafei was the Business Development Manager of MicroSun IESS and held various positions at MicroSun Technologies and MicroSun Asia. He is a member of Notre Dame's Electric Vehicle Charging Industry/National Lab Advisory Board, and is on the H-DEV Mentorship Board. He holds a BS in International Business from The Ohio State University.


Mark Aramli

Mark Aramli has 14 years executive and management level experience within the alternative energy market sector, growing companies and bringing to market disruptive new energy technology products.
 
Prior to Navitas Systems, Mr. Aramli was Director of Business Development for International Battery, a large format lithium battery manufacturer developing advanced energy storage applications for the utility scale, community energy storage, Department of Defense and transportation market spaces.    Prior to International Battery, Mr. Aramli was Director of Sales for UltraCell, a start-up technology company developing remote and portable power systems based on methanol fuel cell technology. 

Prior to UltraCell, Mr. Aramli was with Capstone Turbine Corporation, holding both Vice President of Sales and Director of Business Development roles.  In these roles Mr. Aramli led strategic planning and sales efforts for an environmentally oriented line of power generation products for the distributed power generation, renewable energy generation, power quality and heavy-duty hybrid vehicle markets.  

Prior to Capstone, Mr. Aramli held various management positions at UTC Power, a division of United Technologies Corporation focused on advanced distributed generation and fuel cell technology products.  Mark Aramli began his career at United Technologies, serving as an engineer on various NASA space programs.

Mr. Aramli holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut.  Mr. Aramli has been invited to speak as a domain expert onclean energy technologies at numerous conferences and agencies.

Ralph Kuprewicz - General Manager of Navitas Electronics

Ralph Kuprewicz is the General Manager for Navitas Electronics.  Mr. Kuprewicz is responsible for P&L management, engineering design, operations, global sourcing and technical sales.

Prior to joining Navitas Electronics, Mr. Kuprewicz has held the position of Vice President of Engineering/Operations/Product Development for several large corporations in the Chicagoland area. He has over 18 years worth of experience in the field of rechargeable energy and has been credited seven design patents. Mr. Kuprewicz holds a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
